Scrapbook chronicling the career of the first woman admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, beginning with her education at Boston University School of Law. Includes newspaper and magazine articles about her, pamphlets by her, correspondence, business cards (some with her married name Lelia Robinson Sawtelle) and other memorabilia. Extensive coverage of the legal battles she and other women fought to be admitted to the bar. Also includes reviews of and advertisements for her books "Law made easy" and "The law of husband and wife". The last 12 pages chiefly concern other women lawyers.

Lelia Josephine Robinson, lawyer and author, was born in Boston on July 25, 1850, educated in the Boston public schools, and graduated from Boston University Law School in June 1881. After an unsuccessful application to the Massachusetts bar to practice law, Robinson opened an independent practice on the basis of her law school diploma.
